About the Art Show

Last year we reported our best ever show, and we had no idea how this years would go. However I’m delighted to report we managed to exceed last years profit - what a fantastic result!

We welcomed 101 artists to exhibit 252 main pieces of work/ paintings to be hung, and 154 items unframed to go in the browsers. Sales were good, but the sales of refreshments were amazing - so much so we had to put out a call to the village WhatsApp for more cakes on the Saturday night.

We were delighted to work with Fine & Country who sponsored the whole event this year, and we kept the usual format with the preview evening on the Friday, giving visitors the opportunity to get an early viewing, enjoy a glass of wine and buy work on display.

The Artwork was Judged by Deborah Bird, and Laz Grillo from Fourwalls Gallery chose an artist to be shown at his Gallery in Melton. Visitors had the opportunity to select their choice and they overwhelmingly chose “Peace” by Freya Diprose who also had been awarded Highly Commended by the Judge. Over the weekend, we continued to have lots of visitors, who also took advantage of the lovely homemade cakes as well as buying raffle tickets, which had some brilliant and generous prizes given by various local businesses.

We would like to thank everyone who helped in making the show such a success including the sponsors, the judges, the raffle prize donors, the team organising the preview evening and the many who donated cakes, and other items of food, as well as those who helped serve during the event. Let’s also not forget the “behind the scenes” folk, who helped advertise, hang the paintings, sold the artwork, organise the catering, put items on the village websites, contact the artists, produced the flyers, tickets, etc. and anyone else we may have missed.

This is a major fundraising event which helps keep the Village Hall running, and it is great fun to be involved in and we have already set the date for 2024 - Friday 10 to Sunday 12 May. Put the date in your diary. This will be our 40th show, and we are already thinking about how we can make it even better - watch this space.

If you came along to the event and liked what you saw and would be keen to offer some help for next year, please contact me.

Thank you
